Pull Out-of-Market Contacts to Guide Influencer & Channel Strategy

Vector Team

Not every contact is ready to engage—yet.

This play is all about pulling a report on your coldest contacts and using it to identify which events, influencers, and communities actually reach the people you care about.

The Vector way:

Most teams ignore unengaged contacts—or try to convert them too early.

Vector flips that.

Even “quiet” contacts can give you loud signals if you know how to listen.

Turn your coldest contacts into a data-driven insight engine with this play to power smarter influencer strategy, content planning, and campaign outreach—no guesswork required.

When to use this play:

Use when:

  • You’re building an influencer, event, or partner strategy
  • You want to audit who your unengaged ICPs are—and why they’re not engaging
  • You need to validate where to invest ad/brand spend for awareness

Goal

Generate a report on cold contacts and use it to guide future outreach, channel, and partnership decisions.

Objectives

  • Identify high-priority contacts with no engagement
  • Discover which communities/influencers might influence them
  • Make better planning decisions for top-of-funnel efforts

Use case

You're not ready to run ads, but you want to reach unengaged, out-of-market ICPs. This report tells you who they are and helps answer: "Where do they hang out—and who already has their attention?"

Play Type: Planning | Top-of-Funnel Research Estimated Time to Execute: 1 hour

How it works:

Step 1: Trigger: generate your “out-of-market” report

  • Start by pulling a list of ICP contacts who aren’t showing any signs of engagement.
    In Vector:
  • Filter for contacts who are not in any active stages
  • Exclude those with intent signals, site visits, or known behaviors
  • Export the segment as a CSV

Step 2: Filter: identify the truly unengaged

  • Narrow your CSV to contacts whose stage = “Unengaged, out-of-market” or is unknown. These are people your sales team isn’t touching, your ads aren’t reaching, and your content isn’t converting—but they’re still a strategic fit.

Step 3: Action: Use the list to guide influencer and outreach strategy

This isn’t a retargeting play—it’s a planning play.

With your cold contact list:

  • Run impression-optimized ads on affordable channels (e.g., Google Display, Reddit, YouTube—not LinkedIn)

  • Plug into tools like SparkToro, AudiencePlus, or social analytics to analyze:

    • Which influencers they follow

    • What events they attend

    • What podcasts/newsletters they engage with

  • Spot themes and overlaps (e.g., "80% of these contacts follow X or attend Y")

Wrap Up: Turn Cold Contacts into Strategic Insights

Your coldest contacts aren’t a lost cause—they’re an untapped source of insight. By identifying who they are and where they spend their time, you can guide your influencer and outreach strategies with data rather than guesswork.

Instead of pushing conversions too soon, use this play to map out the communities, events, and channels that actually resonate with your unengaged ICPs. You’ll be able to plan smarter, allocate your ad spend effectively, and position your brand where it truly counts.
